Customs seize 1,148 g of cannabis from a Bangkok passenger at Kolkata airport

ANI reported that customs officers at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport intercepted a passenger arriving from Bangkok as he crossed the green channel. According to a release cited by the agency, his checked in baggage was examined at the Air Intelligence Unit room in the presence of independent witnesses, and three edible item pouches holding vacuum sealed plastic packets were found to contain cannabis. The report gave the recovery as a cumulative gross weight of 1,148 g valued at about 36,00,000 rupees, taken from one trolley bag. The goods were seized under section 43(a) of the NDPS Act 1985.
