Kharibari police seize about 694 kg of ganja from a hidden chamber in a container on National Highway 327

Uttarbanga Sambad reported that Kharibari police seized about 694 kg of ganja in the morning from an area on the India and Nepal border, and put the estimated market value at 1 crore 40 lakh rupees. The report said Darjeeling district police received information that a consignment was moving in a large container, and that Kharibari police waited on National Highway 327 near PWB More and stopped a Haryana-registered container heading towards Bihar. The container appeared empty at first and a closer search found a chamber built behind the driver's seat holding 73 large packets. The driver was arrested and named in the report and described as a resident of Assam. A rural subdivisional police officer told the paper the plan had been to take the consignment from Assam to Bihar and that a case had been registered under the NDPS Act.
