Ganganagar Police seize 547 kg dry ganja after vehicle pursuit in Dhalai, two detained

On Saturday 29 November 2025, a routine vehicle checking operation at the Naka Point under Ganganagar Police Station, Dhalai district, became a major narcotics seizure after a vehicle (TR-01-0759) coming from Gandacherra towards Ambassa broke through the police barricade rather than stopping for inspection. Police pursued the vehicle and located it abandoned at Purnajoypara, where the driver had fled. A second vehicle parked nearby (TR-01-CA-0763) was also inspected. Across both vehicles, police recovered approximately 547 kg of dried cannabis valued at approximately ₹2 crore in the illegal market. Multiple number plates were recovered from the two vehicles, suggesting attempts to disguise their identities. Two individuals from South Tripura district were detained near the location for suspicious behaviour and were under interrogation. The operation was led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Gandachera Nirupam Dutta with Officer-in-Charge Gautam Debbarma, Inspector Babul Mahajan and other personnel.
