Sonamura Police recover 1,027 kg dry ganja in 24 drums at Dhanirampur ADC Village

On Monday 15 September 2025, Sonamura Police acting on intelligence input recovered approximately 1,027 kg of dried cannabis packed in 24 drums from a reserve forest area under Dhanirampur ADC Village, Sonamura sub-division, Sepahijala district. The recovery was led by Sonamura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Inspector Tapas Das. Officials indicated the market value of the seized material ran into several crore rupees. No arrests were made. Tripura shares an 856-km international border with Bangladesh, over 95 percent of which is fenced; Tripura cannabis was reported as smuggled into Bangladesh as well as to Indian states including Bihar.
