Asansol North police seize 57.471 kg of ganja beside Asansol railway station

The Statesman reported that Asansol North police, under the Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate, arrested four young men from Murshidabad and seized 57.471 kg of ganja. Officers acting on a tip-off stopped them near the Jhansi Rani Maidan beside Asansol railway station, where the ganja was being carried in plastic containers. A preliminary investigation was reported as indicating the ganja was brought from Odisha and carried by train from Dhanbad to Asansol station for handover to another agent. An FIR was registered under sections 20(b)(ii)(c), 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act 1985, and the court granted seven days of police custody.
