Hili police seize 93 kg 410 g of ganja hidden in egg cartons on National Highway 512

Uttarbanga Sambad reported that Hili police seized ganja concealed in egg cartons. The paper said officers acting on information saw bundles of empty egg cartons beside National Highway 512 in front of a garage in the Bakshiganj area, and detained a young man standing with them whose answers they found inconsistent. A chamber had been cut into a stack of 30 egg cartons, and opening 8 bundles produced 8 sacks holding 93 kg 410 g of ganja. A deputy superintendent of police told the paper that the arrested man was bringing the consignment from Siliguri, that it was to be passed on for smuggling into Bangladesh and that police were seeking 12 days of custody. Police said the cartons were brought from Siliguri to Balurghat first and were being moved from Balurghat towards Hili by toto.
