Falakata police seize 42 kg 300 g of ganja from a Cooch Behar to Siliguri bus and arrest four

Uttarbanga Sambad reported that Falakata police watched buses arriving at Dulaldokan in Falakata and stopped a private bus running from Cooch Behar to Siliguri at night. The inspector in charge of Falakata police station told the paper that officers grew suspicious of four women at the back of the bus carrying eight identical bags and found ganja when the bags were opened. The report said the seizure was weighed at the scene at 42 kg 300 g in 22 packets, with an estimated market value of about 4.5 lakh rupees. The four arrested were named in the report, one described as from Birbhum and three from Murshidabad, and two children travelling with them were handed to the Child Welfare Committee. Police told the paper they believed the four were carriers and that the ganja was to go to Siliguri and then on to Berhampore.
