Ranaghat police seize 106 kg of ganja from a car on Coopers Road and detain one

Ei Muhurte reported that Ranaghat police station received information at about 1 pm that ganja was being carried in a Maruti four-wheeler travelling from Cooch Behar towards Howrah on National Highway 12. The report said a police vehicle followed the car from Aishtala Mor in Ranaghat and stopped it on Begopara Coopers Road, where a search found three sacks holding 106 kg of ganja. The outlet put the market value at about 10 lakh rupees and said the car was seized in the presence of the Ranaghat II block development officer. The man detained claimed to be a lawyer and gave his home as Mumbai, and the report said police were verifying his identity.
