Bardhaman and Dewandighi police seize 71 kg 900 g of ganja at Talit level crossing

Sangbad Pratidin reported that about 72 kg of ganja was recovered near the Talit railway level crossing in the morning and that a man was arrested. According to the paper police had advance information from a confidential source, after which Bardhaman and Dewandighi police stations ran a joint operation and a special investigating team set up checkpoint searches. The report says a small four-wheeler drew suspicion, the driver's answers were inconsistent and a search of the vehicle produced several large parcels which held ganja. Police sources gave the total as 71 kg and 900 g across eleven packets, seized in the presence of the block development officer, and said the ganja was being brought from Mathabhanga in Cooch Behar for delivery in Bardhaman.
