Bid to smuggle ganja to Sri Lanka from Andhra Pradesh foiled; 3 held

Thanjavur Police arrested three suspects attempting to smuggle 330 kg of cannabis from Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) to Sri Lanka via sea from Sethubavachatram in Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. The operation was organized by a Thanjavur-based buyer who sourced the cannabis from Vizag and planned to use FRP boats for the sea crossing. The smugglers used a lorry with swappable number plates — a Karnataka plate for the Andhra Pradesh border crossing, switched to a Tamil Nadu plate upon entering the state. Three FRP boats, a lorry, and a car were seized. A fourth suspect remains at large.
