Raniganj police seize about two quintals of ganja hidden under fish crates at Punjabi Mor

Dainik Statesman reported that about two quintals of ganja was recovered from a fish-laden truck after police of the Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate stopped it near Punjabi Mor in the Raniganj police station area. The paper said the truck was stopped on suspicion during routine patrolling, and that when officers moved the fish resting on ice in the crates they found packets of ganja stacked beneath. According to the report the truck was travelling from Belda in Paschim Medinipur towards Dubrajpur in Birbhum. Police detained the driver and the helper and seized the vehicle, and the report says the two told police they did not know packets of ganja lay under the crates. The report is dated 8 November 2024 and gives no day for the seizure, so the recorded date is the date of the report.
