Darjeeling district police seize about 25 kg of ganja from a state transport bus at the Paschim Madati toll plaza in Phansidewa

Uttarbanga Sambad reported that the Bidhannagar investigation centre and the Ghoshpukur outpost searched a North Bengal State Transport Corporation bus and recovered about 25 kg of ganja. The report said police stopped a state bus travelling from Cooch Behar to Raiganj at the Paschim Madati toll plaza near Bidhannagar in Phansidewa block, and found the ganja in bags. Two people were arrested and named in the report, described as residents of Gosairhat in Sitalkuchi, Cooch Behar district. Police said the consignment was to be moved from Cooch Behar to Farakka and put its market value at more than a lakh of rupees. The superintendent of police held a press conference that evening and said questioning indicated that several people in Cooch Behar were involved, which is an account attributed to him.
