Cooch Behar court sentences a man to ten years over 210 kg of ganja seized in 2022

Uttarbanga Sambad reported that a resident of the Patchhara area of Cooch Behar 1 block was sentenced to ten years in prison and fined 1 lakh rupees on a charge of storing ganja. The paper said the sentence was announced by an additional sessions judge at the Cooch Behar court. The public prosecutor told the paper there were five witnesses in all and that the accused would serve a further year if the fine went unpaid. According to court sources quoted by the paper, officers of the Kolkata Zonal Unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau, assisted by the 47 Battalion of the Border Security Force, seized 210 kg of ganja from the accused's house at Patchhara on 11 April 2022 and also seized 1 lakh rupees there.
