STF uses drones to locate ganja plantations inside forest reserve
The Police Special Task Force used drone surveillance to locate and raid two cannabis plantations inside the Hambegamuwa Forest Reserve. The first plantation contained 187,857 plants; a 35-year-old suspect from Pinnawala was arrested. The second contained 6,725 plants. Twenty plants were retained as evidence for Hambegamuwa Police; the remainder were burned on-site. Total plants destroyed: 194,582.
