Siliguri Metropolitan Police report 299 kg of ganja seized across 47 narcotics cases in the year

Uttarbanga Sambad reported that the Siliguri Metropolitan Police released their figures for the year in the afternoon. The report said police registered 47 cases covering recoveries of brown sugar, ganja, cough syrup, narcotic tablets and injections, that 91 people were arrested and that 59 lakh 61 thousand 760 rupees in cash was recovered. Of the substances the report gave 24 kg 298 g of brown sugar, 299 kg of ganja, 11,250 bottles of banned cough syrup, 9,640 banned tablets and 1,015 injections. An additional deputy commissioner told the paper that recoveries were up on the previous year, which is a comparison attributed to him. The figures are a calendar year total for the commissionerate area only and do not cover Kharibari, Naxalbari or Phansidewa, which sit under the district police.
