Banarhat police seize nearly 35 kg of ganja from a Siliguri bound bus at Moraghat and arrest three

Uttarbanga Sambad reported that Banarhat police ran a routine check at Moraghat Chaupathi in the afternoon, searched a Siliguri bound bus and recovered nearly 35 kg of ganja. Three women were arrested, and the report said they had boarded carrying infants in order to avoid police attention, with the ganja hidden among clothes in their bags. The inspector in charge of Banarhat police station told the paper that three women had been arrested for trafficking ganja, that two children were with them and that they would be produced in court the following day. Under questioning the women said a toto driver at Birpara had offered them two thousand rupees to drop the bags in Siliguri, according to the report.
