Over 2,000 kg of ganja on its way to Sri Lanka seized in Madurai

Madurai City Police seized a total of 2,090 kg of cannabis being smuggled from Andhra Pradesh and destined for Sri Lanka. An initial vehicle stop on Madurai's Ring Road yielded 40 kg, leading to the discovery of 2,000 kg stored in a pick-up van at a farm near Sattankulam in Thoothukudi district, plus a further 50 kg in a lorry. Six suspects were arrested; two further suspects — the organizer Jayakumar and distributor Aaron — remain at large. The network was distributing through coastal areas of Thoothukudi and arranging sea smuggling to Sri Lanka. Three vehicles, eight mobile phones, and Rs. 25,000 were seized. Cases were booked under the NDPS Act.
