Border task force finds a five hectare cannabis field at Paitenda in Waris

ANTARA reported that personnel of the border security task force of Infantry Battalion 126/Kala Cakti found a cannabis field of about five hectares near Kampung Paitenda in Waris district, Keerom regency, about four kilometres from the Waris post, on 12 July 2022. The report said the field held hundreds of plants averaging three metres in height, grown among bananas and other crops, and that 50 plants were secured after residents had harvested from the plot. The task force commander, Lieutenant Colonel Dwi Widodo, said the site came to light through information from residents, and the regional military commander, Brigadier General Jo Sembiring, said the material would be moved to the Kalipay command post and handed to the Keerom police. No arrests were reported.
