Police destroy 160 kg of seized charas and 120 cannabis plants from 43 cases in Kullu

The Tribune reported that 160 kg of charas, 120 cannabis plants and 80 opium plants seized by police in 43 cases were destroyed in Kullu on 29 April 2022, 37 of the cases from Banjar, five from Anni and one from Manali. Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu put the contraband's value at more than ₹16 crore and said it was destroyed as the rules require, in an incinerator or boiler, by a committee headed by the Mandi Central Range Deputy Inspector General, Madhu Sudan. He said charas seizures were highest in Kullu. The report cites the Kullu police's earlier seizure of 123.5 kg of charas in the Banjar area as the state's biggest haul.
