NCB seize 400 kg of ganja from a lorry on National Highway 6 at Salap and arrest six
Ei Muhurte reported that officers of the Narcotics Control Bureau kept watch on National Highway 6 at the edge of Howrah city and stopped a truck at Salap at about 1 am, recovering sacks of ganja. The report gave the quantity as 400 kg and the market value as about 50 lakh rupees. A second vehicle said to be guiding the truck was also stopped, and six people were arrested in all, named in the report, two of them from Odisha and the rest from West Bengal. According to the report NCB officers said they had information that a large quantity of ganja was arriving in Kolkata by road from south India, and that it was initially believed the consignment had been sent from Cuttack in Odisha for onward movement through Bengal to northeast India and Sikkim.
