BSF and Dinhata block administration destroy about 43,000 cannabis plants across 64 plots in Cooch Behar
The Sentinel reported that Border Security Force troops of the Guwahati Frontier, with police, the Excise department and the Dinhata block development officer, destroyed illegal cannabis cultivation in a joint operation in Cooch Behar district. The report said 64 patches of cultivated land holding approximately 43,000 hemp plants were destroyed, across the villages of Petbhatha, Sewdagudi, Bajejama, Belwadi Bazar and Chaudagudi. The report gave no arrest figure. It carried no date for the operation, and the date recorded here is the publication date of 1 January 2020, so the operation fell on or shortly before it.
