Interior Ministry reports 24 cannabis plantations on over 200 hectares destroyed in five regions of Kazakhstan in Koknar-2019

Azattyq Rýhy reported, citing the Interior Ministry press service, that 24 cannabis plantations with a total area of over 200 hectares were found and eliminated in the Kyzylorda, Jambyl, Almaty, Aktobe and Karaganda regions. Over 30,000 bushes weighing more than 7 tonnes were seized and destroyed. The ministry said that for several years organised criminal groups had tried to establish cultivation of "Indian hemp" in the southern regions, and described one plantation of 3,000 bushes 300 km from Aralsk, where six people were detained.
