Uttarakhand grants India's first industrial hemp cultivation licence to the Indian Industrial Hemp Association
On 10 July 2018 the Uttarakhand government issued the Indian Industrial Hemp Association a licence to cultivate industrial hemp in Pauri Garhwal district, which the association said was the first hemp cultivation licence granted in India after a gap of 33 years. The licence was issued for a pilot project to promote industrial hemp cultivation in the district. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said the project would benefit local communities and encourage investment in the state.
