Police helicopter sprays herbicide on a dagga grower harvesting in a valley outside Port St Johns
GroundUp reported in April 2016 that in March 2014 a police helicopter sprayed herbicide on a woman, given the pseudonym Cynthia, while she was harvesting marijuana in a remote valley outside Port St Johns. She told the journalist Kimon de Greef that the pilot followed her as she ran for shelter, that the spray burned her skin and left black marks and that she still had sinus problems. She first recalled her fields being sprayed in 1986, when her village lay within the former Transkei.
