Kullu Police annual report for 2011 records cannabis destroyed on more than 6,700 bighas

Kullu Police published its annual report for 2011 on the force's blog on 7 January 2012. The report says the year's cannabis destruction campaign destroyed plants on more than 6,700 bighas and registered around 100 cases, which it calls the highest figure Kullu Police had achieved to date, while the opium campaign covered around 400 bighas and 50 cases. It records 200 cases under the NDPS Act against 148 in 2010 and says ₹8.5 lakh of NREGA funds were used to destroy cannabis. The force recommended departmental action against 20 patwaris and 16 forest guards and held six awareness camps in the gram panchayats of Bathahad, Garsa, Hurang, Shalang, Takrasi and Bagipul.
