Constantinople General Population 1899 is a historical seed accession of Cannabis sativa that the United States Department of Agriculture received from Constantinople, today's Istanbul, Turkey, on 7 July 1899 and numbered plant introduction (PI) 3667.[1] No seed of the lot survives. The National Plant Germplasm System, whose database carries the department's introductions, says the accession "no longer exists and can not be requested".[1]

The lot

The department's printed inventory lists the lot as hemp "From Constantinople", received through W. T. Swingle in July 1899 under his number 136.[2] The same list carries millet from Adabazar, wheat from Samsun and canary seed from Adrianople, each received through Swingle that July.[2]
