Aizu General Population 1903 is a historical seed accession of Cannabis sativa that the United States Department of Agriculture received from Japan on 20 May 1903 and numbered plant introduction (PI) 9665.[1] No seed of the lot survives. The National Plant Germplasm System, whose database carries the department's introductions, says the accession "no longer exists and can not be requested".[1]
The lot
The department's printed inventory lists the lot as hemp "From Yokohama, Japan", received through the Yokohama Nursery Company on 20 May 1903, under the name Aizu.[2] Two years earlier the department had bought hemp named Aidzu from the Tokyo Seed and Plant Company (NPG-JPN-UNK-0019010005).[3]
