Gunma General Population 1910 is a historical seed accession of Cannabis sativa that the United States Department of Agriculture received from Gunma Prefecture, Japan on 21 May 1910 and numbered plant introduction (PI) 27960.[1] No seed of the lot survives. The National Plant Germplasm System, whose database carries the department's introductions, says the accession "no longer exists and can not be requested".[1]
The lot
The department bought the seed from the Yokohama Nursery Company. Its printed inventory gives the lot as hemp "From Gumma Prefecture, Japan", received on 21 May 1910, and describes it as "A large variety of hemp, said to be 10 feet long".[2]
