Shanghai General Population 1900 is a historical seed accession of Cannabis sativa that the United States Department of Agriculture received from Shanghai, China, on 28 March 1900 and numbered plant introduction (PI) 5021.[1] No seed of the lot survives. The National Plant Germplasm System, whose database carries the department's introductions, says the accession "no longer exists and can not be requested".[1]
The lot
The department's printed inventory lists the lot as hemp "From Shanghai", presented by a Dr. Kung through Young S. Allen and received on 28 March 1900. The entry marks the lot "Distributed".[2]
