Miéville 41082 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected in Tranninh, the old name for the Xiangkhouang plateau in Laos, in 1920. The Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle holds the sheet as P06781052,[1] and Naturalis holds a duplicate as L.4176263.[2] The number is that of Plantes de l'Indo-Chine, the series of Auguste Chevalier.
Collection and locality
The Paris catalogue gives the locality as Tranninh, the province as Xiangkhouang, the collector as Miéville and the number as 41082. It dates the sheet to 1920 without a day or a month.[1]
The Leiden sheet carries two labels. The printed one reads Aug. CHEVALIER, Plantes de l'Indo-Chine, N° 41082, EX HERB. MUS. PARIS and, handwritten, Laos. Tranninh; the line Coll. Aug. CHEVALIER is struck through and a collector's name written under it. The second label reads HERB. MUS. PARIS., Cannabis, and Herbier d'INDOCHINE donné par M. Auguste CHEVALIER en 1943.[3]
Specimen and identification
The Paris catalogue records the plant as Cannabis sativa L. and names Querido as the determiner.[1] The Leiden record gives the name as Cannabis and publishes the sheet image under a CC0 dedication.[2]
