Idrobo 1708 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa grown in a pot at the Instituto de Ciencias Naturales of the National University of Colombia in Bogotá, Colombia, and collected there on 17 April 1955 by Jesús Medardo Idrobo. Three sheets are known: the university's own herbarium (COL) holds catalogue 120343, the New York Botanical Garden holds 1414390 and the Smithsonian Institution's United States National Herbarium holds US 2844768.[1][2][3]
Collection and locality
COL's catalogue entry gives the locality Universidad Nacional,Ciencias Naturales(cultivos). and the note Cultivada en una matera en el Instituto de Ciencias (grown in a pot at the Institute of Sciences).[1] New York's catalogue entry gives Bogotá. Ciudad Universitaria. Una matera en el Instituto de Ciencias.[2] All three catalogue entries give the date 17 April 1955.[1][2][3]
Specimen and identification
Idrobo determined the plant as Cannabis sativa L., and the COL catalogue entry gives the common name Marihuana.[1] No image of any of the sheets has been published; the page rests on the catalogue entries.
