Hsia 2811 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected at Halach'ingkow in the Tats'ingshan, in the former province of Suiyuan, now Inner Mongolia, China, at 1,200 m on 23 July 1931 by W. Y. Hsia. The Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing holds a sheet as PE 00557999[1], and the Northwestern Institute of Botany in Yangling a second as WUK0001287[2].
Collection and locality
The field label, a typed Flora of China form, gives the number H.2811, the date 23/7/1931, the locality Halach'ingkow, Tats'ingshan, Sui-yuan, the altitude 1200m. and the collector W.Y.Hsia. The label of the Herbarium Academiae Nationalis Pekinensis reads Sui-yuan: Tats'ingshan, Halach'ingkow, July 23, 1931 and Leg. W.Y.Hsia (2811). Det. W.Y.Hsia, and a tag gives the collector's name in full, Wei-Ying Hsia.[3] The catalogue gives the collector, number and year, and places the sheet in Xinjiang.[1] The Yangling sheet carries the same form and label and the same printed tag, numbered 2811.[4]
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries a single stem with palmate leaves, a flowering top and a long root. The herbarium label names it Cannabis sativa Linn., determined by the collector.[3] The Yangling sheet carries a long stem with its root and a flowering top; a slip of April 1982 names it Cannabis sativa L.[4] The Chinese Virtual Herbarium publishes its sheet images under a non-commercial, no-derivatives licence (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0); they are read and cited here, not reproduced.
