Hopkinson 1626 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected at Peitaiho (Beidaihe), on the coast of Hebei, China, on 30 June 1931 by a collector its field label names as Hopkinson. The Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing holds a sheet as PE 00557901, and the Northwestern Institute of Botany in Yangling a second as WUK0001286.

Collection and locality

The field label, a typed Flora of China form, gives the number Ho.1626, the date 30/6/1931, the locality Peitaiho, Hopeh and the collector Hopkinson; a tag tied to the stem is numbered 1626 in pencil. The label of the Herbarium Academiae Nationalis Pekinensis gives the same place and date but reads Leg. K.S.Hao (1926). Det. W.Y.Hsia. The catalogue follows the second label in naming K. S. Hao, with the number 1626, the year 1931 and Hebei. The Yangling sheet carries the same field form, naming Hopkinson, and the same herbarium label, naming K. S. Hao with the number 1926.

Specimen and identification

The sheet carries a leafy stem with palmate leaves and some loose leaves. The herbarium label names it Cannabis sativa Linn., determined by W. Y. Hsia. The Yangling sheet carries one tall stem with its root, narrow leaflets and male flowers.
