Ho 6478 is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected in grassland at Chudian (初殿), on Mount Emei (峨眉山, Omei Shan), Sichuan, China, on 31 August 1935 by 賀賢育 (He Xianyu). The Institute of Botany, Jiangsu Province and Chinese Academy of Sciences in Nanjing holds three sheets, NAS00292883[1], NAS00290127[2] and NAS00290128[3].
Collection and locality
NAS00292883 carries a Flora of China form (中國植物) filled in by hand. It gives the locality 峨眉山 初殿 (Omei Shan, Chudian), followed by two cursive characters and 12 that were not read; the habitat in grassland; a herb 1.3 m high with greenish male flowers; the note rare; the field number 6478; the date 31, Aug 1935; and the family Morac. A stamped tag reads 賀賢育採 (collected by He Xianyu), 四川 (Szechwan), 1935 and the number 6478.[4] NAS00290127 and NAS00290128 carry later labels of the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, with only the name written in, and the same stamped tag.[5][6] The catalogue gives the collector as 贺贤育, the number, the year and Sichuan for all three.[1][2][3]
Specimen and identification
NAS00292883 carries a slender male stem with a thin flowering raceme and a few leaves; NAS00290127 two thick stems with a large mass of roots and palmate leaves; NAS00290128 a leafy branch with large palmate leaves of narrow, finely serrate leaflets and two slender male inflorescences.
