1971 Panama Red 2023 is a seed accession of the cannabis line that Hippie Cannabis Genetics (HCG) sells as 1971 Panama Red. HCG says that the line was "Originally collected in 1971, by the same person who collected our 1970 Colombian and our 1973 Durban".[1]
History
The earliest dated mention of the line as HCG's found is a post of 16 August 2023 on the growers' forum Overgrow. In it the member Upstate ranked five Panama Red lines by the degree of indica influence and placed "Hippie Cannabis Genetics 71 Panama. The original hybrid. 18-20 weeks" fourth. Upstate called the line "contaminated", but thought it the version that people remembered smoking.[2] In September 2023 the member DainIronFoot reported receiving the line.[3]
Cultivation Details
HCG gives an average flowering period of 16 to 18 weeks, and says that the line needs a long cure to show its best qualities.[1]
Botanical Characteristics
HCG describes a wide, bushy and branching sativa whose leaves are slightly broader at first and grow thinner as the plant matures.[1]
Aroma
HCG describes fruity and earthy smells with notes of hashish, and a fruity, hash-like taste.[1]
Effects
HCG calls the effect a strong cerebral stone, euphoric and relaxed.[1]
