Chow s.n. is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected in Hebei (then Hopei), China, in 1930 by H. F. Chow. The Institute of Botany, Jiangsu Province and Chinese Academy of Sciences in Nanjing holds two sheets, NAS00290141[1] and NAS00290143[2].
Collection and locality
NAS00290141 carries a typed label of the herbarium of the Metropolitan Museum of Natural History, Academia Sinica, Nanking, giving the locality Hopei, the collector H. F. Chow and the date 1930.[3] NAS00290143 carries a typed label of the herbarium of the Fan Memorial Institute of Biology giving the same three entries, with its lines for the field and herbarium numbers blank.[4] A small tag tied to each plant carries a blurred purple stamp, read as 靜生生物調查所 (the Fan Memorial Institute of Biology). Neither sheet gives a number, a day or a place within the province. The catalogue gives the collector, the year 1930 and Hebei for both.[1][2]
Specimen and identification
NAS00290141 carries a tall stem with palmate leaves of narrow, serrate leaflets, a flowering top and a separate piece of root; NAS00290143 two long stems, one leafy and one with small flowering branches.
