d'Alleizette s.n., Hà Nội is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa collected at the village du Papier (paper village) of Hà Nội, northern Vietnam, in September 1908 by Charles d'Alleizette. The Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden holds the sheet as L.1592668.[1] The label notes that the plant supplies hashish.
Collection and locality
The collector's label has the stamped heading Herbier de Ch. d'Alleizette and reads, by hand, Tonkin : Hanoï, village du Papier and Sept. 1908.[2] The catalogue gives the locality as Tonkin, Hanoï, village du Papin, the date as September 1908 and the collector as Alleizette AC d', without a number.[1]
Recorded local name and use
Below the date the label adds Fournit le Haschich ! (supplies hashish!).[2] The catalogue leaves the note out.[1]
Specimen and identification
d'Alleizette determined the plant as Cannabis indica; the authority after the name is hard to read.[2] A typed Leiden slip and the catalogue give Cannabis sativa L.[1] The sheet carries a leafy branch ending in a dense flowering head. Leiden's older label numbers it 950.213 590 and is stamped Gesublimatiseerd, treated with sublimate against insects.[2]
