Zolotarev s.n. is a herbarium accession of wild-growing Cannabis sativa from the village of Mongoli, today Mongol, on the lower Amur, in Khabarovsk Krai, Russia, gathered in August 1934 by A. Zolotarev. The Moscow University Herbarium holds the sheet as MW0062803.[1] Its label notes a use of the plant, for twisting rope, and its name in the language of the Ulch, опохта (opokhta).
Collection and locality
The label is a single slip written in blue ink: Конопля дикорастущая — дер. Монголи, нижний Амур. август 1934 г. А. Золотарев (wild-growing hemp; the village of Mongoli, lower Amur; August 1934; A. Zolotarev).[2] The village is today's Mongol (Монгол), in Ulchsky District. Below the stamp of the herbarium the same blue ink adds Употребление: для плетения веревок. (use: for twisting ropes) and Туземное название — опохта (ульчский язык) (native name opokhta, Ulch language); the last word is partly under a leaf.[2] The catalogue gives the collector, the month, the locality and the note on use, with no point.[1]
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries five long, leafy stems, two of them with their roots.[2] The label calls the plant wild-growing hemp; a later pencilled determination names it Cannabis sativa L. s. l. (in the broad sense), and the catalogue files it as Cannabis sativa L.[2][1]
