Titov s.n. is a herbarium accession of Cannabis sativa gathered in the environs of a fortification in the Dzharkent uezd of Semirechye on 16 September 1920 by V. Titov. The Moscow University Herbarium, which holds the sheet as MW0818716, files it under Kazakhstan.[1] The fortification's name is not clearly legible.
Collection and locality
The label is written in green ink Cannabis sativa L., Джарк. у. Окр. укр. (Dzharkent uezd; environs of the fortification) and a name, 16. IX. 1920. and В. Титов (V. Titov), with 432. at the top left; a stamp reads Ex Herbario Horti Botanici Universitatis Asiae Mediae (from the herbarium of the botanic garden of the Middle Asian University).[2] The catalogue gives the collector and the date, with no locality.[1]
Specimen and identification
The sheet carries a single large, densely branched, flowering top laid on the diagonal, and an empty envelope at the top left.[2] The label names the plant Cannabis sativa L. without a determiner. A typed slip gives the redetermination of the sheet by E. Small of Canada Agriculture in August 1975 as Cannabis sativa L. subsp. sativa var. spontanea Vav.; the catalogue files it as Cannabis sativa L.[2][1]
