Template:Infobox Named variety/doc
More actions
An infobox for articles about a cannabis name: a trade name such as Niugini Gold, a local name that growers give to a kind of plant in their own language, a name registered as a plant variety, or a name for a kind of product. It is used on the article about the name itself, never on a page that only mentions it.
A place name used as a product name stays on the article about the place. A seed company's name for one of its seed lots is an accession, not a name article; the infobox lists those accessions instead (see Accessions under this name below).
Usage
A trade name:
{{Infobox Named variety
|name = Niugini Gold
|kind = Trade name
|other_names = Nuigini Gold; New Guinea Gold
|refers_to = The plant, and the seedless flower heads of the female plant
|country = Papua New Guinea
}}
A local name that is also a registered variety:
{{Infobox Named variety
|name =
|local_name =
|kind = Local name; Registered cultivar
|other_names =
|language =
|meaning =
|country = Thailand
|places =
|first_recorded =
|registered =
|match =
}}
Leave a field empty rather than guess it. Every value must come from a source cited in the article.
Parameters
| Parameter | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| name | No | The name as the article's title gives it, without any bracketed disambiguator: Creepy on the page Creepy (cannabis). Defaults to the page title
|
| local_name | No | The name in its own script, where that is not the Latin alphabet. Shown under the title. Plain text: no link and no citation |
| image | No | Filename of an image of the plant or product |
| image_caption | No | Caption for the image |
| image_alt | No | Alternative text for the image. Defaults to the caption, then to the name |
| kind | Yes | One or more of Trade name, Local name, Registered cultivar, Product name, separated by semicolons. Any other value raises a warning on the page and is not stored. See Property:Has name kind |
| other_names | No | Other spellings and other names for the same thing, separated by semicolons. Plain text: no links and no citations |
| language | No | The language the name comes from. Display only; a link is allowed |
| meaning | No | What the name means, in English, only where a cited source gives that meaning. Plain text: the citation goes in the article's own sentence giving the meaning |
| refers_to | No | What the name is used for: the plant, a product made from it, or both. Display only; a citation is allowed |
| country | No | Bare titles of the countries the name belongs to, separated by semicolons. The template makes the links |
| places | No | Bare titles of the places the name is tied to (a growing area, an appellation, a province), separated by semicolons. The template makes the links. A place that is only claimed as the origin goes here only if the article says who claims it |
| in_use | No | When the name was in use, as the sources give it (1970s, since the 1990s). Display only; a citation is allowed |
| first_recorded | No | A four-digit year followed by its citation: the earliest year in which a source cited on the page uses the name. Only the year is stored. A value that does not start with a four-digit year is shown but not stored |
| registered | No | For a registered variety: the body that registered it and the year, as the cited registration gives them. Display only; a citation is allowed |
| match | No | The text searched for in accession names, separated by semicolons. Defaults to name. The search is case-sensitive, so list each spelling that seed lists use (Hang Krarok; Hang kra rog)
|
| accessions | No | no hides the accession list, for a name whose text also appears in unrelated accession names
|
Accessions under this name
The infobox lists the accessions in Category:Accessions whose synonyms (Property:Has synonyms) or descriptive name (Property:Has descriptive name) contain any text in match: the first ten, sorted by name, with a link to all of them. The section is hidden when nothing matches. The list says only that an accession carries the name. It does not say that the seed descends from the plants the name first referred to; where that is claimed, the article says who claims it.
Categories
The template files the page by kind:
- Trade name: Category:Legendary landraces
- Local name and Registered cultivar: Category:Local cannabis names
- Product name: Category:Cannabis product names
Do not add these categories by hand. Regional categories are added on the page as usual.
