Discussion
Evidentiary scope
The article rests on the RSC listing for Highland Lao #6 and on the Kwik Seeds listing of the same line. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose). The listings place the line in the highlands of Bolikhamsai and date the sourcing to 2024. They name no village or farmer. The history of commercial cultivation is RSC's account and has not been checked against other sources; the article attributes it. The conservation priority is High; the basis is below. Éloise 11:28, 17 September 2026 (+07)
Georeferencing
The listings name only Bolikhamsai; RSC gives a latitude of 18° N. The coordinate is the label point of Bolikhamsai Province in OpenStreetMap (relation 5831655), rounded to two decimal places: 18.58, 104.15, in Viengthong District. It marks the province, not a collection site, and is shared with the other Bolikhamsai accessions (see Talk:RSC-LAO-BOL-0120230001). Éloise 11:28, 17 September 2026 (+07)
Editorial treatment
- Accession ID.
RSC-LAO-BOL-0120240001:BOLfor Bolikhamsai Province, month01because the listing gives none, and serial0001as the first 2024 line from the province in RSC's listing order (Hmong Ganja is0002). - Collector.
Angus, as on the other accessions RSC sourced itself. - Vocabulary mapping. "Sativa-type architecture" is entered as growth pattern
Christmas tree, the provisional RSC convention discussed on Talk:RSC-LAO-CHA-0120240001. - Conventions. Photoperiod
Short-dayand introgressionMinimalfollow the other RSC accessions; neither listing states them. - Not entered. No leaf shape: unlike Highland Lao #5, this listing does not describe the leaflets. Éloise 11:28, 17 September 2026 (+07)
Conservation priority
High. RSC writes of "these increasingly rare cannabis landraces" on this listing, and gives the source as farmers in a crucial centre of production of Thai ganja. RSC states no conservation priority of its own, so the rating is the wiki's, on the four values it uses for accessions: Critical, High, Medium and Low. Éloise 21:05, 17 September 2026 (+07)
Source discrepancies
- History. RSC: cultivation "grew rapidly through the 80s". Kwik Seeds: "through the 70s and 80s".
- Characteristics. RSC: "stimulating and euphoric luminous high". Kwik Seeds: "euphoric luminous high".
- Genetics line. RSC: "Lao – Thai Cannabis Landrace". Kwik Seeds: "Traditional Lao – Thai Ganja Domesticate (“Landrace”)".
- Only on Kwik Seeds. "A new accession from farmers". The classification C. sativa subsp. indica var. indica is now only on Kwik Seeds; RSC carried it until May 2025 (below).
- Only on RSC. The description of the effects as ranging from intensely stimulating to trippy and psychedelic.
The listings do not explain the differences. The article uses both and attributes each. Éloise 11:28, 17 September 2026 (+07)
Archived versions
The Wayback Machine holds 11 versions of this web page, from July 2022 to April 2026, and all were read. The same address has carried two lots.
- Highland Lao #4, 2022. From July 2022 to July 2024 the page gave the sourcing as 2022. Until May 2024 it also said "The number '4' indicates that this is a distinct accession from a new source". The July 2022 page is titled Highland Lao #4 and shows a different photograph, filed as "highland-lao-4-thai-stick-landrace-seeds". Those versions describe the earlier lot and are not used in the article. They also carried paragraphs, since dropped, on why farms could not be visited and on terroir.
- Highland Lao #6, 2024. From January 2025 the page gives the 2024 sourcing under the name Highland Lao #6. Its versions of January and May 2025 carry "Classification: Cannabis sativa subsp. indica var. indica", which the article cites from the version of 25 January 2025. The line is gone by October 2025.
RSC's Highland Lao #4 is not in its current catalogue. The Kwik Seeds listing of Highland Lao #7 shows a photograph that it describes as Highland Lao #4 (see Talk:RSC-LAO-BOL-0120250001). No RSC version contains the Kwik Seeds wording "grew rapidly through the 70s and 80s" or "A new accession from farmers". Éloise 11:28, 17 September 2026 (+07)
Photographs
The infobox image is the listing's only photograph. It is on the page by January 2025, when the page was first archived as Highland Lao #6; in July 2022, as Highland Lao #4, the page showed a different photograph. The listing does not say what the present photograph shows, so its caption names the listing and describes the image without claiming it shows this lot. It was uploaded under fair use at reduced resolution. Éloise 11:28, 17 September 2026 (+07)
