Identifier
The accession identifier is RSC-EGY-UNK-0119900001, built from the holder, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, the province segment, the month, the year and the sequence number.
- Province segment
UNK. The listing names Sinai, which is divided between two governorates, and no governorate. - Year 1990 is the first year of the listing's "1990 – 1997". The month digits are
01because no month is given. - Sequence 0001. It is the only RSC accession for Egypt.
Sourcing
The RSC listing for Sinai as it stood on 27 October 2026 and its 28 versions in the Wayback Machine from August 2019 to May 2026; the Kwik Seeds listing as it stood on 26 October 2026; and the GRIN-Global entry for G 33761. Kwik Seeds is the shop RSC calls its other site (RSC, Hemp & Multipurpose).
Lots at this listing
All 28 archived versions give the 1990 – 1997 sourcing. From November 2024 (nine versions) the listing adds "Available seeds are from ex-situ reproductions of the original accessions". The earlier versions do not say whether the seed on sale was collected seed or a reproduction, and their photographs, from August 2019, already showed plants grown in Spain, Oregon and the Netherlands. This page is the collections of 1990 to 1997 and carries no lot fields; the seed on sale is RSC-EGY-UNK-0119900001-R1.
Evidentiary scope
RSC is the only source for the collections. It speaks of "various batches" over eight years and names no wadi, village or grower, and the listing treats the batches as one line. They are kept together on this page, as the listing keeps them.
Typing
- Classification: Landrace, sourcing type
Point of Origin, autochtonousYes: the listing describes seed collected at the source. - Collector.
Angus, as on the other accessions whose sourcing line reads "The Real Seed Company". - Ethnic group.
Bedouin, from the listing's account of cultivation "by Bedouin in the wadi". - Purpose. Hashish (sieved resin) or bud is entered as purpose
Recreationand processingDry-sift; the bud and the culinary seed are kept in the processing notes. - Collection date.
1990, the first year of the collections; the infobox has no field for a range. - Photoperiod.
Short-dayfollows the other RSC accessions; the listing reports that plants "can show day-neutral ('semi-autoflowering') traits". - Introgression.
Minimalfollows the other RSC accessions; the listing does not state it. - Traits such as height and leaf shape are left empty: the listing gives two forms with different values.
Georeferencing
No point is given. The listing places the collections only in "the mountains of Egypt" and in Sinai, in various batches over eight years, and names no wadi or village. The finest place named is the Sinai Peninsula, larger than any province that takes a point. The donor's point on the USDA entry G 33761, 28.5394, 33.9754, added in 2026, lies 0.55 km from the hamlet of Farsh Elias (OpenStreetMap node 2676159723), 1.8 km from Saint Catherine's Monastery (node 2701123706), at 2,247 m by SRTM: a place on the slopes of Mount Sinai rather than a field, and the sources do not tie any of the batches to it, so it is not used.
Source discrepancies
- Genetics line. RSC: "Egyptian Cannabis Landrace – Sinai". Kwik Seeds: "Pristine Sinai Egyptian Landrace".
- The Holland test. RSC: "allegedly exhibited 16% THC and 1.5% CBD". Kwik Seeds and RSC until August 2024: "exhibited 16% THC and 1.5% CBD".
- Collected. RSC: "collected in various batches in the mountains of Egypt between 1990 and 1997". Kwik Seeds: "collected in the mountains of Egypt between 1990 and 1997".
