Discussion
Identifier
The accession identifier is RSC-AFG-BAL-1120180001-R1: the identifier of the 2018 collection, RSC-AFG-BAL-1120180001, with the reproduction suffix -R1.
Sourcing
The RSC listing for Tashkurgan as it stood on 27 October 2026 and its 20 versions in the Wayback Machine from January 2021 to April 2026 that sell the reproduction; the Kwik Seeds listing as it stood on 26 October 2026; and RSC's post of 6 May 2025.
Evidentiary scope
The sources establish that the seed on sale has been a reproduction of the 2018 collection, made by open pollination, since January 2021. They do not say where it was grown, by whom, with how many plants, or how many generations separate it from the collected seed.
Typing
- Accession type: Reproduction, autochtonous
No: the listing calls the current stock a reproduction of the original accession. - Classification: Landrace, the class of the collection it was grown from.
- Sourcing type is left empty: the sources do not say how many generations have been grown.
- No coordinates. The sources do not say where the reproduction was grown. The collection's place is on RSC-AFG-BAL-1120180001, so the line appears on the map once.
- Genebank accession. The USDA entry G 33764 is listed on the collection's page, whose passport it carries; why is explained on Talk:RSC-AFG-BAL-1120180001.
Source discrepancies
- Reproduction. RSC: "The current stock is a reproduction of the original accession through open pollination." Kwik Seeds says nothing of a reproduction.
Photographs
The infobox image and the gallery image are from the RSC listing, uploaded under fair use at reduced resolution. The infobox image is filed as "Tashkurgan-second-generation" and has been on the listing since August 2020; the caption follows its name. The gallery image is one of three near-identical photographs of plants beside a measuring pole, on the listing since September 2024, when it sold the reproduction. The person holding the pole is not identified, and the listing's copy masks the face.
