Discussion
Sources
- L. C. Miller (Indian Hemp Drugs Commission, vol. VI, Madras witness no. 18, p. 190) is cited from the page image, where the name reads Purnadi legiyam. He says his answers were based on reports from the subordinate revenue officials of his district.
- Chopra and Chopra (1957) is cited from the UNODC web edition, which carries no page numbers. Their entry repeats Miller's almost word for word, so it is one witness, repeated.
Title and spelling
- The title follows the Chopras' purnadhi legiyam, the spelling of the existing Purnadhi page. Miller's purnadi legiyam is a redirect.
Purnadhi and purnadhi legiyam
- The Chopras list the two as separate entries with different methods: purnadhi is pounded with a long list of spices and heated to a jelly, while purnadhi legiyam is washed, dried and powdered ganja mixed with ghee, sugar and a few spices. The article keeps them apart for that reason. Neither source explains the shared name.
Is it cannabis?
- Both sources name ganja as the first ingredient.
Kind and plant part
- Sweet: ganja with ghee and sugar, listed by Miller under "Eating". Neither source gives a medical use.
- Flower: ganja.
- Still made: not known from the sources cited.
