Discussion

Identifier

The accession identifier is ATA-AFG-BAL-0120060001, built from the holder, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 country, the province segment, the month, the year and the sequence number.

  • Holder segment ATA stands for ATAO Genetics.
  • Country, province, month and year are those of the parent, RSC-AFG-BAL-0120060001: the date in a seed accession's identifier is the collection's, not the grow-out's, and ATAO's pack came from RSC's seed of Winter 2006 (see the parent's Talk page).
  • No -R1 suffix. The holder codes of parent and reproduction already differ.

Sourcing

ATAO's opening post of its Overgrow thread "Mazar I Shariff (Atao's Strawberry IBL)" (https://overgrow.com/t/mazar-i-shariff-ataos-strawberry-ibl/104826/1, 6 March 2023) gives the history of the line. Its post of 16 December 2013 in the ICMag thread "mazar I shariff RSC line roms" (read from the Wayback capture of 20 September 2025) dates the first F2. The Hemp Depot listing (http://hempdepot.ca/seeds/Atao/index.html, read on 8 and 12 October 2026, unchanged) gives the generation, the traits and the flowering time; the version archived on 20 May 2022 is the earliest. ATAO's website (read on 8 October 2026) and the SeedHeaven listing give the other labels. Every statement about the plants is ATAO's own account and is attributed to it.

Typing

  • Classification: Landrace IBL. The parent, the Mazar-i-Sharif seed sold by The Real Seed Company, is classified Landrace. ATAO's account is of a line bred over five generations from two parents chosen out of one pack, which it calls an IBL and, in its listing of 2022, the "4th generation of my fruity line found in 2009 from landrace seeds". The accession is classified Landrace IBL, an inbred line selected from a landrace, by inference from ATAO's account. The account has not been checked against other sources. An earlier version of this note classified the line as Other, on the ground that a seller's account does not establish the class of the source population.
  • Accession type: Reproduction, sourcing type: Multi-generation reproduction. ATAO counts five generations from the pack.
  • Parent accession: RSC-AFG-BAL-0120060001.
  • Cultivation status: Active. ATAO reported the P5 in May 2025 and, in September 2026, a next generation focused on strawberry-scented plants (https://overgrow.com/t/the-search-for-og-strawberry-cough/198230/140).
  • Flowering time, aroma and effects are the Hemp Depot listing's. The listing of May 2022 gives the same 9 to 14 weeks. A grower's post of December 2013 in the ICMag thread gave 8 to 9 weeks for the second generation; that is an earlier generation and is not entered.

Generation labels

ATAO's labels change with time and place. Its own list of March 2023 reads "Mazar I Shariff (TRSC) F4"; Hemp Depot's listing of June 2025 and 2026 reads "F5"; its Overgrow posts of May 2025 and September 2026 and its website of October 2026 read "P5". These are taken as one generation under two labels, F and P. The counts are ATAO's and are attributed to it.

Photographs

The three photographs are from ATAO's Hemp Depot listing for this line (http://hempdepot.ca/seeds/Atao/images/, fetched 12 October 2026), which shows five. SeedHeaven's listing shows some of the same photographs. One of the five, a purple-leaved flowering top, is not used: the same file is on The Real Seed Company's old product page for the line, so it may not show ATAO's plants. No photograph of the line appears on ATAO's listings of other lines.

Georeferencing

No point is given. This page records a line grown for several generations away from its source, and the population's place belongs on the parent, RSC-AFG-BAL-0120060001, whose own note explains why it has none.

People

ATAO's account names the grower who made the F2BX and gives details of where the early generations were grown. The article names neither: the grower's forum name adds nothing to the accession, and the places are private.
