Colombian Gold Lowland 2024 is a seed accession of the cannabis line that The Landrace Team (TLT) sells as Colombian Gold Lowland, one of the names covered by Santa Marta Gold. TLT gives its genetics as Santa Marta Gold (lowland), Samarian Golden and Caturra, a local sativa from the low mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, in the north of Colombia.[1]
History
TLT says that many farmers and "hippie settlers" grew the lowland type in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, until drug traffickers and paramilitary groups such as the AUC arrived. It says that it was grown in the departments of Magdalena, La Guajira (at Palomino) and Cesar, because it was a little faster, shorter and earlier than the highland type.[1]
TLT says that the type was locally sold as "Caturra" in the 1990s and 2000s, a word it says also names a dwarf coffee variety and short people, and that it was also called "Samarian Gold", after the samarios, the people of Santa Marta. It disputes the belief that the indigenous peoples of the Sierra grew cannabis, calls it a marketing story, and says that a mamo, a spiritual leader of the Sierra, told it that they never did, not even during the marimbera bonanza.[1]
The earliest archived capture of TLT's own page for the line was made on 28 May 2024.[2]
Growth
TLT puts the vegetative phase at 16 to 20 weeks and flowering at 16 to 18 weeks, the height at 1.5 to 2 m and the yield as high. It describes loose, resinous flowers with a golden finish and large pointed calyxes, mostly conical plants with a large main bud, and five phenotypes.[1]
Aroma and effects
TLT lists aromas of incense, ripe mandarin, fruit, grape and turpentine, and of frankincense, citrus and tangerine peel. It calls the effect psychoactive, euphoric, potent, long-lasting and "lysergic".[1]
