Skvortsov s.n. is a herbarium accession of cannabis gathered growing of itself in somewhat ruderal places at the village of Enbekshi on the river Usek, at 900 to 1,000 metres, in the Panfilov district of south-eastern Kazakhstan, today's Jetisu Region, Kazakhstan, on 8 August 1985 by A. K. Skvortsov. The Missouri Botanical Garden holds two sheets, 105732345[1] and 105732403.[2]
Collection and locality
Both sheets carry a typed label in Latin, URSS, Kazakhstania australi-orientalis, districtus Panfilov, ad pag. Enbekschi ad fluv. Usjok (Usek), alt. 900-1000 m (USSR, south-eastern Kazakhstan, Panfilov district, at the village of Enbekshi on the river Usek, 900-1,000 m), with 8.VIII.1985 and A.K.Skvortsov. A line by hand adds locis subruderalibus, sponte on the first sheet and sponte in locis subruderalibus on the second (growing of itself, in somewhat ruderal places), and the name is written by hand, Cannabis sativa L.[3][4] The catalogue gives the collector, the date, the locality in English and an elevation of 950 m, the middle of the label's range, with no point.[1][2] Enbekshi lies on the Usek north-west of Zharkent, at about 969 m; the area belonged to the Almaty Region until the Jetisu Region was split from it in June 2022.
Specimen and identification
The sheets carry a few long, branched stems each.[3][4] The plant is named on both labels Cannabis sativa L., without a determiner's name, and the catalogue files both under that name.[1][2] The garden publishes the images of both sheets under a licence for non-commercial use; they are not reproduced here.
