Gorkha Nepali General Population 2024 is a landrace cannabis accession from Barpak, Nepal, listed as Gorkha Nepali in the seed catalogue of The Real Seed Company (RSC).[1] RSC classifies it as a Himalayan multipurpose landrace.[1]
Geography
RSC places Barpak north of the town of Gorkha, at a latitude of about 28° N.[1]
Collection Details
The listing gives the sourcing as The Real Seed Company in Gorkha, Nepal. It dates the sourcing to winter 2024 and names no farmer.[1] Kwik Seeds, which RSC calls its other site,[2] carries the same text.[3] Versions of the RSC listing from June 2025 to April 2026 gave the sourcing as "The Real Seed Company, Northern Kumaon (Winter 2024)", while placing the collection in Barpak as the current listing does.[4][5]
Cultivation Details
RSC reports that these domesticates are cultivated for culinary seed, fibre and charas.[1] It gives the harvest as late September to early November and an outdoor height of up to 5 metres. It lists outdoor or greenhouse growing.[1]
Botanical Characteristics
RSC describes large plants of the "Himalayan multipurpose" type, similar to its accession named Kumaoni.[1] It lists the plants as vigorous and hardy, with resinous inflorescences.[1]
Aroma
RSC lists floral, citrus and hashy aromas.[1]
Notes
RSC notes that Gorkha takes its name from Gorakhnath, a siddha (accomplished yogi) of both Hindu and Tantric Buddhist traditions who is most closely associated with the Nath lineages. It adds that folk traditions throughout South Asia attribute a love of cannabis to Gorakhnath.[1]
