Letourneux s.n. is a herbarium accession of cultivated Cannabis sativa gathered by A. Letourneux in Egypt in 1877, at a place his label names in words not yet read with certainty. The Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle in Paris holds the sheet as P06886060; it came from the herbarium of E. Cosson.[1][2]
Collection and locality
The collector's slip reads Cannabis, a line naming the place and ending Culta (cultivated), a month and 77, and the signature A. Letourneux. The sheet is printed Herb. E. Cosson and stamped Donation du Docteur E. Durand, Ancien herbier E. Cosson (donated by Dr E. Durand, formerly the herbarium of E. Cosson).[3] The catalogue reads the place as Hagueres in Naoucetie, gives the note Culta and the month May 1877, and files the sheet under Egypt.[2]
Specimen and identification
The sheet holds four stems, two of them with leafy flowering tops.[3] The slip gives the genus only; the catalogue files the sheet as Cannabis sativa L.[2]
