Laurent s.n., Manglié is an accession record for a pressed herbarium specimen of Cannabis sativa collected at Manglié, in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo and was then the Congo Free State, on 5 December 1903 by Em. Laurent and M. Laurent. Meise Botanic Garden holds the sheet as catalogue BR0000014662706.[1] GBIF publishes the gathering as preserved specimen occurrence 1839971860.[2] The sheet carries no collector number, so it is titled by collector, locality and year.
Collection and locality
The manuscript label reads Cannabis en fleur, cannabis in flower, with the place name and the date 5/12/03, signed by the two Laurents.[3] The accompanying Brussels slip is printed Mission Em. et M. LAURENT and stamped 1903-1904, which is where the abbreviated form of Émile Laurent's name used here comes from.[3]
Specimen and identification
The sheet is annotated with the symbol for a male plant, so the mounted material is staminate, and the label describes it as in flower.[3] The catalogue determination is Cannabis sativa L.[1]
